Workshop Basic Freediver (Level 1)
Next course date: At Volos (Greece) / On demand
Requirements
Brevet Requirements: None, but participant should be able to complete a distance of 100 meters in any style of swimming without fins and drift on the surface (unassisted) for 1 minute, with hands (not arms) out of the water. Participants do not have to be scuba divers.
Minimum age: 17 years
Workshop duration: 1 day
Required equipment: mask, snorkel, normal or Apnoe fins, watch and depth gauge or a freediver computer - for possible open water training a wetsuit, weight belt and weights.
Furthermore, a medical certificate of fitness for diving is required.
Workshop price: 149 €
Description and aim of the workshop
The following topics will be introduced:
- Basic principles and rules of Apnoe/free diving
- Basic knowledge of physics and physiology in the context of "free diving" in order to apply them safely and efficiently
- Criteria and requirements for equipment
- Basic principles of relaxation
- Correct breathing / breathing techniques
All training sessions will take place in the pool. If this is not possible, they can also be done in confined water (open water).
At the end of the workshop, each participant should be able to perform the following:
- 01:45 minutes of holding your breath (static Apnoe)
- 30 meters of distance diving with fins (dynamic Apnoe)
- 10 meters deep dive
Upon completion of the workshop, the participant will receive a certificate of attendance/certificate from the Apnoe-King Academy.
Theory
- Swimming ability and its meaning
- Breathing (importance of oxygen, carbon dioxide, hyperventilation)
- Physics (Boyle and Mariotte's law and its application)
